We are in the process of installing an SSL certificate on Boyah. An SSL certificate is what gives websites the fancy lock and green address bar, and more importantly, what guarantees that data sent between you and the server is encrypted and totally secure.
Part of the installation requires switching Boyah.net to a new IP address, so in the next ~12 hours Boyah may be intermittently 'down' for you while your ISP updates its records.
If you become unable to reach Boyah, try the following:
http://204.93.201.10/forums/
https://204.93.201.20/forums/
Try each as http/https.
Update: Transition complete. Please rate the quality of your SSL experience and report bugs.
It's already showing up as https, so that's good.
I was wondering what that was about.
I get a red lock because of supposedly insecure content on the page (like my avatar, idk if imgur supports ssl)
ok now it's gone. i get the warning for imgur but something else is fixed
Switched over to new IP (.20), should be working for everyone within 2-3 hours.
So when are we getting boyah 2.0 then baddood;

Well it looks like it's working for you right
I'm currently using the https://204.93.201.20/forums/ address
it seems to make me often logout immediately after submitting a post :(

Try clearing your browser's / OS's DNS cache, and try a few different browsers. One will probably work and the others will fix themselves soon.
i feel so safe now lubdoods;
btw snorkel everything is ok again. i only get the unsecure content warning because of external sigs/avatars which is expected.

o cool. maybe with boyah 2.0 we require avatars uploaded to server?
you guys do know that uploading avatars etc. has been broken for a while right
at least for me
What happens when you try?
The permissions on some folder are probably all fucked up since we've moved so many times. I assume we could get it working with 2.0 since everything will be new
Have you ever thought of clicking "Forever" and not "once?"
also what version of os x are you even on.
Apparently that message comes up when you sync bookmarks on .Mac / MobileMe and they use ssl with rss or soemthing.

Anyway this will all be finished very soon, just a heads-up that the domain might resolve someplace weird for a couple hours, but Boyah will not be offline or anything.
So THAT'S why Boyah loads so painfully slow I've had to bail out more than once and then just quit coming here. And I've got broadband. O_O

Also a strange issue, has anyone else noticed load times increase?
nope

Sometimes the page doesn't load at all and Safari says that it couldn't connect to the server.
That's more likely a problem on your end, as I know for certain that this server doesn't have random brief periods of dropped connections. Do you have rusty leaky DSL?
I am using Safari and it has been completely fine.

Verizon FiOS.
Can you load other pages when this happens? Is it for a prolonged period or just single dropped connections ?
Quote from: Snowy Deluxe on August 13, 2011, 10:34:06 PM
Yes. It doesn't go away until I kill my connection from the Internet completely.
Try loading Boyah in another browser when this happens, and if it works, try reloading it in Safari.
This random method often works for me in that situation
I have this problem before
my problem was about the bad dsl splitter
i think it's safe to unsticky this now
yes, I was thinking about it myself but hovered over the Sticky this topic box and pondered whether it was within Doodthing's Will for me to carry it out.
