This is the first of a few things that I would really like a community opinion on. What kind of rating system do you guys prefer in reviews? We're going to have quite a few reviews on the site and the rating system needs to be something universal that we can all agree on.
What are you guys into?
Using letter grades as a rating system seems to be the best to me. n_u
/10 ratings with .5 increments.

I think I prefer this one
/10 with increments of .5, OR a letter grade, or both
Adjectives. for example
Verdict: Awful
Verdict: The greatest game I've ever played
Vedict: Platypus Balls
Scale of 1 to 10, increments of 1
But have 5 be "average", not "bad" like it usually is.

that's better suited as an addition to normal rating, coinciding with the sense of humor of the particular reviewer, if you ask me

Pretty sure Destructoid does something like BUY IT, RENT IT, or SKIP IT, very unconventional, but it's kind of cool.
I like /10 with .5s, most people recognize it as an apt grading system. "oh man X game got a 8.5, it's pretty good."

not doodthing faces, but uh...like i mentioned at one point a long time ago, it would be cool if our mascot was based on our red octopi
and our mascot having different faces could certainly be used IN ADDITION to a normal scoring system n_n

Yeah, that's kinda what I meant, I just used Doodthing because he was available.
Having that in addition to a X.0/X.5 out of 10 system would be nice.

youre gonna have a score, a doodthing for the score, and a specialized squid-related comment. too much.

Alright, fine.
Doesn't really matter to me anyways, a rating is a rating is a rating.

Same here.
I think we should actually use it, just because our site won't be featured on Metacritic or anything, so we don't need to worry about a professional scale or anything. I think this is so cheesy that it just might work.
there's too much ambiguity in just 3 categories
stick to numbers plz

FORCING PEOPLE TO ACTUALLY READ THE REVIEW? FUCK THAT.
3 categories says its good, decent, or bad. Further detail can be explained in the review. The end score is for lazy fucks.

I still say that as well. 5thgrade;
As a better example, this would kind of be like GiantBomb's reviews with a grade and a drawing of the reviewer doing an expression that echoes the grade.
Like here: http://www.giantbomb.com/tron-evolution/61-29284/reviews/
3 stars and a drawing of the reviewer doing a "so-so" motion with his hand.
I think we should have a score ONLY so we can potentially be included in the metacritic/gamerankings/blahbalh game score if we ever get enough coverage. FREE ADVERTISING
