I personally think that if you murder someone you should have all your rights taken away. Which means you should either have to sit in a white cell with no windows or any entertainment until the day you die OR you should lose your life. I just don't think people who kill other people should have rights. I also think people who kill other people while under the influence should be in jail FOREVER. The only exception of this I could think of would be if someone came and murdered your family then you went and killed them. I think maybe if you were seeking revenge for someone killing a family member then you should have almost no consequences. I would say their punishment should be to see a therapist. Maybe even like just a year in jail.
I want to know what you think about the death penalty or whatever.
Did someone kill someone you know

You're retarded that contradicts itself. And if someone kills seeking revenge, they still took a life and should face the consequences they deserve. Oh and fuck that in jail for life idea, that wastes so much of the nations money. Just put them to death its not like they're going to miss anything anyway they were in a damn cell.
The death penalty is the easy way out as opposed to being bored in a cell forever. However, being bored in a cell forever costs money for taxpayers.
My favorite ideas are (1) putting a bunch of murdering psychopaths (and child molesters, too) in one big room and letting them kill each other, and (2) leaving a murdered in a locked, windowless room and giving them a few methods of killing themselves (gun, rope, chainsaw, starving to death, rat poisoning, etc.)

I agree with the death penalty as opposed to being bored in a cell. It saves a lot of money. But sadly those proposed ideas would be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

I don't think it's terrible for someone to go kill the person who killed their little girl. I think it's only fair.

When establishing law, you can't make exceptions like that. And it isn't only fair, by doing such a thing your succumbing to the exact level the murderer of you're little girl was. Solves nothing.
There are always going to be murderers. Can't stop that.

Murderers shouldn't have rights. They don't deserve it.

Hm. Is it really cruel and unusual if they do it to themselves? I mean, say food was provided in both scenarios.
Scenario A: Just trying to cut back costs by putting everyone in one room ;)
Scenario B: Just trying to cut back costs by taking away other forms of entertainment than .. you know.. ropes and chainsaws and.. ooh, Twilight.
If my only options were a chainsaw to the throat, and Twilight, I'd certain choose the former.
Edit:
Um. Nvm, Twilight could be considered cruel and unusual punishment.

Lol well yeah they would be cruel and unusual punishment, even if you did scenario A, people would start killing each other, then people would talk about how it urges them to kill each other. Lol but yeah thats funny.

Yea...too bad it's not that black and white.
People kill other people for a huge variety of reasons. Should a serial killer who kills for fun get the same punishment as a guy that killed someone who raped and killed their daughter? Of course not, that's why the first one is murder, and the second is manslaughter, and they both have different punishments.
We need good and moral judges in our courthouses and less money-hungry lawyers all over. It's up to those people to take our systematic law books and put humanity and justice into them.
Also, death penalty is a big no. Why pay more than we have to to let the most heinous of killers get a quick and painless death?
I think we should empty out all the people in a state like Colorado or Wyoming or something, put a massive 40 ft fence around the entire state, make it a big fortress. The whole entire state. Then anytime someone commits a major crime, they get dropped into it with all the other murderers, rapists, child molesters, etc. and they have to live out the rest of their life in the remains of the state. All buildings, places, infrastructure, etc. (except ways you can escape) remains but they just have to survive. They have to get their own food, they have to protect themselves, stuff like that.
you just know hell would break loose and all sorts of big syndicates and stuff would form.
Also we put it on 24/7 pay per view TV called Prison Television or the Incarcerated Entertainment Network or something.
It would be badass.
that guy up there ^^ has a good idea

Damn stylized font I read that as
ESCAPE FROM NELLI YORK
And then it didn't make sense and I saw
17 FROM NELLI YORK
I think i'm retarded
And then an innocent man gets convicted of a crime and has no rights and is abused in prison for 20 years before evidence turns up clearing him of the crime.
But it's ok human rights lol
Quoten January 2000, Governor George Ryan of Illinois imposed a moratorium on the imposition of the death penalty in Illinois. In reviewing death penalty cases since 1977, he determined that 13 death row inmates in the state had been cleared of murder charges, compared to 12 who had been put to death. Some of the 13 inmates were taken off death row after DNA evidence exonerated them; the cases of others collapsed after new trials were ordered by appellate courts. "There is a flaw in the system, without question, and it needs to be studied", Ryan said. Ironically, the Republican Governor had campaigned in support of the death penalty. Ultimately in January 2003, Governor Ryan commuted all death sentences to prison terms of life or less.

Even if you want to go with a fictional example of "proving" that the person is completely guilty then I'd like to counter with even the Minority Report is wrong at times. akudood;
You can't strip a person's rights or life solely because they were convicted of a crime. Salem Witch Trils had many people put to death for being witches with evil magic. Guess how many were guilty
and kaki's tax paying thing. it costs more to put an inmate to death etc. Also find the link in srs discussion where I linked to a map of states with the death penalty then posted a ranking of violent crimes. that also showed death penalties are not effective.
now go to some place like sweden or norway and look at their prison system and crime rates.

I say we do not need prison at all. We could train them to be front-line soldiers for the military. Maybe. A larger crime would mean more time in the military of course. If you want to kill someone, kill someone we don't care about doodella;
Also, rapists should have their penis cut off.
because women dont lie about rape and recant later right
And I don't think having more criminals in the army would be a helpful thing.

Not to mention the fact that a good portion of the time psychiatrists convince patients that they were molested as a child when they actually weren't. This is why so many organizations for the sexually abused proudly proclaim that after refusing to let the patients accept that they weren't molested as a child, they have had none of them say otherwise.
