Hold on to your hats folksâ,¦ hereâ,,,s the first look at in-game footage of Rock Band 3.

For the keyBOARD (not keytarâ,¦ although there is a handle), green, red, blue, yellow or orange keys flow on a â,"streamâ, representing the notes to be played on five corresponding keyboard keys. In a new authentic Pro mode meant to help players segue to actual instruments, all 25 keys are used; the streams shifts left and right to cover the correct keys. The keyboard also works as a MIDI keyboard that can be connected to a computer.

â,"This is a real instrument and a real device,â, says senior designer Sylvain Dubrofsky.

In addition to the new keyboard controller, also due for the gameâ,,,s release are two advanced guitar controllers that take advantage of the Pro mode, one a full-sized, fully functional Fender guitar (all sold separately, no prices yet).

Other Rock Band 3 advances: improved animations, refined gameplay features â,” players can drop in and out of games, or change instruments and difficulty settings on the fly without stopping songs â,” and a easier-to-use song menu.

Of the 83 song setlist, the songs CONFIRMED for Rock Band 3 already include:

   * Dio â,“ Rainbow in the Dark
   * Huey Lewis and the News â,“ The Power of Love
   * Ida Maria â,“ Oh My God
   * Janeâ,,,s Addiction â,“ Been Caught Stealing
   * Jimi Hendrix â,“ Crosstown Traffic
   * Joan Jett â,“ I Love Rock and Roll
   * Juanes â,“ Me Enamora
   * Metric â,“ Combat Baby
   * Night Ranger â,“ Sister Christian
   * Ozzy Osbourne â,“ Crazy Train
   * Phoenix â,“ Lasso
   * Queen â,“ Bohemian Rhapsody
   * Rilo Kiley â,“ Portions of Foxes
   * Smash Mouth â,“ Walkinâ,,, on the Sun
   * Spacehog â,“ In the Meantime
   * Stone Temple Pilots â,“ Plush
   * The Cure â,“ Just Like Heaven
   * The Doors â,“ Break On Through
   * The Vines â,“ Get Free
   * The White Stripes â,“ The Hardest Button to Button
   * Them Crooked Vultures â,“ Dead End Friends
   * Whitesnake â,“ Here I Go Again

OK, now check out the video of Rock Band 3 in actionâ,¦

The keyboard was handled incredibly well, IMO.

Also, look at that fucking tracklist. BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY WITH HARMONIES AND KEYBOARDS. Also I fucking love In The Meantime.

UNLESS IT'S KEYS because standard keys look stupid.

Well yeah why wouldn't they be? I guess his inclusion of The Beatles confused be since they can't be exported. But yeah, all DLC and exports will, of course, work in RB3.

However, what with pro mode and harmonies and keyboards now included in the files, that's too much shit to make it backwards-compatible so once RB3 is out, the DLC that comes out from there will only work with RB3.

Actually, I'm guessing they'll still work for the other games, the harmonies and keyboard parts just won't be accessible.

god damn it fine i'll use grammar. Okay so when Beatles Rock Band came out, the verdict was there would be no ability to export the songs because there was too much new fangled stuff in the game as well as it being the fucking Beatles, so you couldn't play the songs in Rock Band 2, only in Beatles Rock Band. But now, you can export and play the songs and Rock Band 3 which brings me satisfaction in large amounts.

LRN2READINGCOMPREHENSION

All DLC and exports will work in Rock Band 3. The Beatles has no and will never have an export feature for reasons that have nothing to do with technological capabilities. RB3 DLC will only work with RB3.

The fucking frets are quiet on 2? Jesus I would hate those controllers then good thing I didn't get one. I fucking hate the Rock Band guitars. The guitar hero ones are so much better, mostly because I acutally feel like something is going on when I play it; its like having sex with a girl who just wants to go to sleep when I use the Rock Band guitars.

There are going to be some songs that have no keys part, so I wouldn't be surprised if they picked out a few songs that are missing other parts as well. There already songs available that are missing instruments, though most of them are just missing vocals. "Fell in Love With a Girl" has no bass, "Dawn Patrol" has no guitar, and "The End" by Pearl Jam has no drums.

not because of the length...i just have a feeling Harmonix is going to make Freebird into one of those "hard but not quite hard enough to deter people so let's put it in like ever setlist and make it always show up as a random 'hard guitar song'" type things (sort of like how Carry on Wayward Son is everywhere in RB2...as well as Spoonman for "hard drums songs")

also, holy shit, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Pt. 1? the amount i want this game just went up like 500%.

i can see Radar Love as being a really fun song to play with friends where everyone sings together  :3

Fuck that reminds me. Awhile ago I had nothing to do all day so I decided to get the achievement for beating the endless setlist without pausing or failing. I played on Hard just in case I got too tired to play on Expert, I played for fucking 5-6 hours and got to that visions song. WHY IS IT SO FUCKING HARD? GAH.
But yeah I can't beat that song on hard. :|

Lasso would be kinda weird to play because ti doesn't really fit the 'rock' vibe.

Granted a lot of RB's songs have been like that.

Also

There's plenty of stuff that doesn't fit the rock feel. Check out the song Antibodies.

And if we're going into DLC then there's quite a bit more. Hell, there are Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus packs.

Also, this game's Painkiller is "Llama" by Phish, in that it's the only song to be in the hardest tier for every instrument. Roundabout comes close, but it's only second hardest tier on vocals.

Reading Destructoid's review made me understand something.

You can also play the guitar and bass parts with the keyboard peripheral.

Like in all those DLC songs with the piano charted as guitar.

Oh god.

ALL THOSE FREEZEPOP SONGS badass

better song choices, better non-guitar peripherals, better charts, better looking characters, better character design, better sound mixing, way more DLC, and just more fun in general

the only thing Guitar Hero has that's better is the kooky storylines

A song starts off as something called a master track, which is comprised of all of the parts of the song (guitar, vocals, etc) on their own audio files, which are called stems. Mixing is the process of changing the sound levels and qualities of the stems to make the song sound as good as possible.

And the people over at Guitar Hero suck at it.

Game overall really isn't a guitar game. As far as guitar goes the difficulty is lowered quite a bit just because of the song choices. The new trill, strumming, and drum roll mechanics are unfortunately broken and makes some songs very difficult to keep combo on which is frustrating.

Too poor for the keyboard. Haven't played any pro mode.
