I'm leaving for college tomorrow and I have enough I haven't yet listened to to get me there, but I'd like to have my options open since I have different music for different moods. Here are the albums I have in my library that I have not yet listened to that I'm expecting to enjoy:
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
Arctic Monkeys - Humbug
Company of Thieves - Ordinary Riches
Foo Fighters - In Your Honor
Foo Fighters - One By One
Franz Ferdinand - You Could Have It So Much Better
Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives - Second and Eighteen
Incubus - Monuments and Melodies
Kings of Leon - Only By the Night
The Kooks - Konk
Mute Math - Mutemath
Phoenix - It's Never Been Like That
The Postal Service - Give Up
The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely
TV on the Radio - Return to Cookie Mountain
That Handsome Devil - A City Dressed in Dynamite
That Handsome Devil - That Handsome Devil
It's really not that far of a trip and I guess it's just an excuse to get more music into my library but start suggesting anyway.
Return to the Sea - Islands
The Soft Bulletin - Flaming Lips
Falling Through a Field - Black Moth Super Rainbow
Travels With Myself and Another - Future of the Left
Spirit They've Gone, Spirit They've Vanished - Animal Collective
Surrender - Chemical Brothers
Dig Your Own Hole - Chemical Brothers
Trout Mask Replica - Captain Beefheart
All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone - Explosions in the Sky
Acoustic EP - Against Me!
Wolves in Wolves' Clothing - NoFX
A History of Rats - This Is My Fist!
Most of that is high enough energy to keep you through driving at least.
I'm not much into Against Me! and Napster didn't have Trout Mask Replic, All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone or A History of Rats, but the rest are all downloading now.

A lot of people aren't. I can understand that. But the Acoustic EP is different. If you're feeling adventurous and haven't heard it, please try it?
Okay fine. And while I'm thinking of it I'm also getting Manners by Passion Pit because I heard The Reeling on the radio and I like it so why not.
If you don't have them you should also get Strawberry Jam & Feels by Animal Collective
The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn by CocoRosie

Fuck yeah Boston.
Now that I'm more awake:
Latterman - No Matter Where We Go...!
Bjork - Medulla
System of A Down - Toxicity
Le Loup - The Throne of the Third Heaven of the Nations' Millennium General Assembly
65daysofstatic - The Destruction of Small Ideas
Andrew Bird - The Mysterious Production of Eggs
Big D and the Kids Table - Good Luck
Streetlight Manifesto - Keasbey Nights
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing
Infected Mushroom - Converting Vegetarians
Venetian Snares - All the Children Are Dead
Joanna Newsom - Ys
Joni Mitchell - Miles of Aisles
Sondre Lerche and the Faces Down - Phantom Punch
The Door's Rider on the Storm is such a good road song. Oh my god.
I've gotten so many more albums between now and then. Like, a lot. Like, a lot a lot.
Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare
Gomez - Bring It On
The Hold Steady - Stay Positive
Interpol - Antics
Modest Mouse - Good News For People Who Like Bad News (don't yell at me for not already having this it was an oversight on my part)
Mute Math - Armistice
Spoon - Gimme Fiction
Spoon - Kill the Moonlight
Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
so yeah those albums you suggested, plus all those that i got on my own, PLUS the ones you JUST suggested, means a LOT of new music in my library that will take a VERY LONG TIME TO LISTEN TO.
:3
Empire of the Sun's debut album, Walking on a Dream. It's fucking awesome. Like an australian MGMT but less psychedelic and more techno/pop
No, just Gomez, they're a decent but not amazing band
uh
"Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain" - Pavement
"A Ghost is Born" - Wilco
"With Love and Squalor" - We Are Scientists
"Oracular Spectacular" - MGMT
WHAT THE FUCK? No one mentioned the Grateful Dead? American Beauty and Workingman's Dead are fantastic albums for road trips.
i do not like the grateful dead but nice try

This is Boyah, not a classic rock forum. I don't think there's anyone here who could be considered a Deadhead except maybe you if you really like them that much.
They're all right.
Try the Raveonettes, i really like Whip it On (their first cd/ep)

Think like Surf rock mixed with weird 80s noise pop

I only have a few Dead albums and would not at all consider myself a Deadhead. But I still find those two albums to be really good traveling music. I guess everyone else is just thinking of any music to suggest, but when I think of "music for the road" I think of drivinthattrainhighoncocaine.

I do like Casey Jones but it still stands I do not usually like the Grateful Dead.
I prefer the Hold Steady's Separation Sunday for driving myself. That and it is their best album hocuspocus;
