Sorry about making a "favorite" thread, but who are your favorite vocals from both genders?
Male:
Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day)
Runner Up: Chester Bennington (Linkin Park)
Female:
Hayley Williams (Paramore)
Runner Up: Avril Lavigne
Remember: Not necessarily your favorite band, just the vocals.
Males:
Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin/solo career)
John Lennon, Paul McCartney (The Beatles/solo careers)
Roger Waters, David Gilmour (Pink Floyd/solo careers)
Females:
Beth Gibbons (Portishead)
Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac)
Does Beth have a solo career? Hmm...also, never tried any of Stevie's solo work other than some cheesy new wave hit she had in the 80s and because of that terrible song I don't want to try any more of it.
Male: Chris Cornell
Female: Janis Joplin
I like quite a few male vocalists, but Thom Yorke and and Damon Albarn would be up there... I also like Andrew Bird's voice a lot; Zack Condon of Beirut too.
Haley Bonar probably tops my female vocalist preferences.
Male:
Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel)

Me too. Temple of the Dog was great, Audioslave was pretty good, and his solo career is just okay. All of the Soundgarden albums have amazing vocal performances.

I'm too lazy to think past the extremely obvious ones.

I'm not. I love The Doors, and Jim's unique, yeah, but he gets annoying on a few tracks and he doesn't exactly have any real "talent" for singing. If it weren't for all the other things that help support Jim's extremely rough vocals, it would sound pretty bad, I'm sure.

Talent is for American Idol.

They do get pretty rough in some songs, but I still don't find them annoying even when trying to single out his voice. The repitition gets annoying, and even then that's for the song as a whole.
doodthing;
if that's what you meant by support, anyways. like the instrumentals drowning him out.

by support, i meant more the lyrical content and overall usually dark mood of the music, not necessarily the other instruments in the songs specifically
but yeah, don't get me wrong, i love The Doors still, even more than i love The Beatles
Jim Morrison has a great voice, yeah. I call him the ideal frontman - great vocals and an even better stage presence.
I was listening to a live track by the Doors. Jim was like "bla bla bla astrology" and some girl in the audience said something about astrology. Jim's like "I think it's all bullshit" and she's like "I do too!".
