By old, I mean pre-2000. I can barely remember playing it.
It had a first person perspective was a first-person shooter, was horror-themed, in a haunted house, etc.
You fought generic horror monsters, blah blah, you started out in I guess a parlor of some sort and there was a bookshelf that, when moved, revealed a hidden passage.
There were a shitload of weapons, the default was a pistol or something and early on you had to defeat some witch thing to get a wand. After that is a blank.
Edit: Also, eyeball monsters. I think.
The only name that comes to mind is "Mr. Bones" but I can't find anything similar with that.
Help? Out of the three old PC games I used to love (this, Leisure Suit Larry 7: Love for Sail and The 11th Hour), this is the only one whose name I can't remember.
Given the release dates of the above games, I'd place it at a 1994-1996 release time frame.
I remember that game, but sadly I can't help akudood;
Sounds sort of like Grim Fandango, but I never played it, so I'm not sure

No, no, completely different. I recall Grim Fandango being like the Monkey Island games. baddood;
Also, drastically different setting. Seriously.
All I can think of is Alone in the Dark
I am convinced I will never find this game. :'(
Blood (http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/103/Blood.html) is kind of similar, but I don't think there was a pitchfork. akudood;
I wanna say Clocktower, but that's not even in the question. akudood;
Nightmare Creatures? I remember it being generic like you said but I don't remember if it was first-person.
STILL HAVEN'T FUCKING FOUND OUT WHAT THE NAME OF THIS GAME IS GOD DAMN

If there was guns in Clocktower, the game would be easy giggle;
Did you try looking here?

I tried something like that (but on GameFAQS) and didn't get very far since I haven't a damn clue what the game's actual name was and I know only a general idea of its release date. :'(
and from the looks of this list, i'll be searching for all eternity akudood;
Also, Blood (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CibO_6YBX_k), Heretic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TtafkMpqvY), and Hexen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6I8hVaqmA0) look like my best bets.
Heretic and Hexen are two of my all time favorites giggle;

I don't remember anyone named Mr. Bones from those games and there aren't pistols akudood;
I still haven't found this shit damn game.
It may have been a Wolfenstein or Doom mod. That means I might never find it. :'(
Sounded like 7th Guest from the first paragraph... Then guns. No clue.
Suggestions from /v/:
Clive Barker's Undying
Nocturne
D
Doctor Hauzer
Elvira: Mistress of the Dark
Escape from Monster Manor
The Dark Eye

I actually had that game (and 11th Hour). No naggy-ass Stauf here, though. n_n

Whoa. Thanks.
It looks like I can rule all of those out except Escape from Monster Manor pretty easily, though. It was definitely a Wolfensteinesque shooter, but it was most likely on DOS (not 3DO like Escape from Monster Manor) and it had multiple weapons (also not like Escape from Monster Manor).
The Dark Eye looks cool as hell though. thumbup;
Nitemare 3D? Looks sort of exactly like what you're describing...
anyway here's this list: http://www.dosgames.com/g_3d.php

I had previously heard of this game and I agree.

Nitemare 3D?
This definitely seems to be the closest match I've seen yet, although very colorful compared to my memory. This opening level (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjmAPbxC-iE) feels very familiar, and I do remember floating eyeball things, either as enemies or as part of the scenery.
the great mystery...slowly unveils itself.
Idk Nitemare seems pretty close because I think the second weapon you get is a wand... Dunno about Mr. Bones though
Another suggestion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catacomb_3-D
I think by this point I can say it was probably Nitemare 3D. Thanks Steal thumbup;
