I can't tell if what I have is my allergies or something worse. But let's pretend it's allergies since that's what mommy told me.
So it seems every year my allergies hit me worse and worse. I'm not one of those people who instantly starts sneezing in the presence of pollen. In fact, I never sneeze because of my allergies. And I'm not sure if what happens to me is any better or worse, but it sucks jnnetheless.
When I woke up this morning, I had a small tickle in my throat. As the day progressed, it got worse and worse. And in fact, my throat had swollen so it became harder to breathe and swallow. Because of this, my natural instinct was just ton continually swallow (subconsciously). So this made my gag reflex unusually active all day. Which in turn, made me always feel like I was going to vomit without actually being nautious (sp?).
By the time I got home from school, my eyes were burning and watering, which actually made me feel like I had a fever. I couldn't handle this, so I took a nap. For three hours. In a sweatchirt. In direct sunlight.
When I woke up, I was sweating like a whore, and now I just feel even shittier. Everything hurts. ;_;
Maske it better. ;_;
Do any of you have allergies, and how do you react to them?

No, I am not allergic to anything which I have encountered thus far in life.
I react to allergies with pure skepticism and disgust.
I have no allergies, but I have asthma, which gives me some of your symptoms at times. When I was around 6 they had to take me to the hospital because my windpipe was practically swollen shut and tears streamed down my face.
If that's what allergies feel like, I pity your symptoms. Hope you feel better Sam
According to my mommy, alcoholic beverages.

I don't have any allergies, but I do get bad sinus infections once in a while

That's pretty ignorant of you. Allergies are a huge pain in the ass.
I've just got your average pollen allergies. So yeah, hayfever season can get pretty awful for me.

Nope, but I do think some are exaggerated and based on some shitty placebo effect, the brain is a very powerful and not yet fully understood organism which exerts almost total control over the body. As such I believe most of it is mentally based.

Maybe you should do some research.

Er...it might be exaggerated for some, but most people who state they have allergies are serious about it. It's a proven immune disorder and is usually diagnosed unless it's already obvious enough to the patient.

Well, considering I didn't realize it was my allergies until I was on the way home from school, I'm gonna guess it has nothing to do with the placebo effect.

Other than typical seasonal allergies that arise for a few days when it changes from summer to fall or winter to spring I have no problems with allergies.

Except that fact that I went to the doctor after I developed a bad cough, thinking it was bronchitis again and I wanted to catch it before it developed into anything worse and my doctor said it was allergies and just to take some of the Walgreens brand of Clariten.
I went to the doctor thinking I had something else and it turned out only to be allergies. Surely if it was the placebo effect wouldn't I have been diagnosed with bronchitis and not simple allergies?
I said some, not all.

My main issue is with the cultural life style. Here every single thing from a scratch to a headache is treated like the end of the world with unnecessary doctors appointments and of course medicine replacing common sense and natural healing. Making individuals more prone to taking drugs insisted of letting it be, creating this subculture of drug dependent individuals. One wonders why there are seemingly more diseases, illnesses and deficiencies and fewer "cures" yet an abundance of drugs and deaths; not to mention secondary unhealthy problems they (drugs/artificial treatments) themselves cause. Don't try to exaggerate this point as medical science has greatly improved human health and some things do needs to be treated but most don't. This government regulated and sponsored relationship between drug companies and the medical establishment is corrupt and ineffective. So is the way our society views common place natural injuries and ailments.

I don't know if I have any specific allergies, but I do sneeze a lot.
Also, Pinkeh, there is a spell check.

Yes, but Firefox or Safari do it better.
I'm allergic to pollen and grass, and today I had to mow a huge patch of weeds on my side yard. Holy Shit, I'm never doing that again. I was sneezing for literally an hour and a half. >.<
if only there was an occupation in which someone is trained to treat humans' medical problems

BRAINS ARE PEOPLE, TOO
"ism", I meant to say organ, relax.
I have a combination of minor asthma and dust/mould/pollen allergies that crops up occasionally. It's rarely a problem, although my mom has an annoying tendency to try to get me to use my inhaler whenever I have a slight cough or anything. Personally, I think it's probably best for me to use it as little as possible so I don't become dependent on it.
I think the allergy part might have gone away, actually. I used to have problems during the spring and when I went to my cottage, but I haven't had that for a while. I still react to dust sometimes, but that might just be the asthma.
I have no allergies at all.
I've been coughing a lot and it's causing me to lose my voice right before a concert on saturday. :(
