First thing's first, I'm on my mom's shitty laptop.
So my computer froze. More than usual, to the extent where my little pointer doesn't move. So I turn the computer off. What other choice do I have?
So now the file windows/system32/config/setup is corrupt.. or just not there anymore.
Fuck.
and the only way to fix it is too format my PC and reinstall the OS.
FUCK
and I have nothing on backup.. at all. Mom mom is going to kill me because we already used up all 3 usesw of the microsoft 07 office thingies, and her few pictures were all on there.
And on top of that, I have 20 FUCKING GIGABITES of memory saved on that hard drive (in picture form).
Not to mention all my homework, some of which I was working on when it crashed.
FUCK ME for being a STUPID BITCH who doesn't back up her STUPID FILES.
I'm so pissed. And sad. Someone help me salvage the files before I format. :(
I'll be crying over there in the corner. :(
Take hard drive out of computer, put it in someone elses and copy the entire drive to your laptop, if it has enough space.
haha stupid bitch
also jk sry lol
I almost cried when that happened to me. Like, 50 gigs of pirated music, gone, ogm. :(
Have you tried rebooting?

...yes. >.>
Trust me, i've tried everything. Is there any way at all to extract my files without going through the OS?
Get a Linux LiveCD and an external harddrive. Boot into Linux and copy the files from the harddrive to the external.

Yes, dig through your computer's guts with a toothpick until you've extracted the data.

Oh god JMV, I haven't gotten that far yet to know if all is well, but..
you should have seen the first "LiveCD" I burned and booted.
It was based around a really shitty picture of a puppy.

Click Places on the top bar, and go to Computer. Then pick your hard drive, the name should be like xxxGB Volume (where x = # of gigabytes)
Just go through there, and drag everything you want onto your external drive.

seriously i've been the go-to guy since '06
Anyway, the SystemRescueCD (http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page) would've been perfect for this situation, but I assume it's too late.
