Okay, so one of my Mac auctions just ended. The winner is this guy from South Africa.
He immediately sends me an email requesting overnight shipping via DHL... TO SOUTH AFRICA. And says he doesn't care about the fees.
I checked on dhl.com, and it would be $2,050. Now, what the fuck?!
WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD DEMAND OVERNIGHT INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING ON AN OLD COMPUTER?
He can't scam me if I send him a PayPal invoice, which is what he's requesting, so I'm pretty sure this is legit. Crazy as fuck, though.
Best part is, if this guy really wants to be two grand for shipping, I can save 10% but still charge him the normal rate. Instant $200 for me. magician;

I was suspicious of the 0 auctions won/sold at first... but his account is two years old; if it would have been a new account I'd say no right away.
But considering it's not a new account, that the guy contacted me before hand, and that he's keeping in regular contact with me now with his @mac.com address, I don't think this is a scam.
Also, there's no way in hell to rip me off through a PayPal invoice.

Silly Afrikaners.
Though, $200 for you is good.
Probably some rich bastard who thought moving to Africa would be a great "adventure".

All I'm going to say is if you can afford to lose it, then take the risk of sending.

They can easily wait until you ship it, and then cancel the paypal payment. Anyone can cancel a payment.

But I would wait until the money is in my PayPal account and transferred to my checking account before I shipped it; there's no way he can get money back after that. psyduck;
Probably one of those racist brits that tried segregation.
Fucking Europeans and their Africa-raping.
Okay, he just replied to me, and said no thanks to $2050 shipping. Damn. edumacate;
He did say just ship it USPS 8-day International, though. So at least I know it's not a scam.

What is the best kind of sax to play, and what is the best brand to get. As a beginner.

Tricky question. If you're
really serious about playing, get a intermediate or even low-end pro instrument. There's no point in punishing yourself with a "beginner" instrument.
What I would do is...
1) Lease/rent an intermediate instrument from a local music store, and get lessons. Most stores offer this. If you decide you really like it in a few months or a year, buy a good sax.
2) Find a good vintage sax in good condition. Old saxes are often cheap, and play extremely well. Just make sure you're getting one that's fixed up and ready to play.
send him an e-mail telling him the fee.

He can still put a stop payment on it. The only way that you can be 100% sure is if he pays cash, or an american express money order. American express money orders can NOT be stopped.
What will happen if he puts a stop payment on it:
1. Bank takes money out of your account immediately
2. Bank investigates
3. ???
4. Profit!

for modern saxes are yamahas okay
remember to always wear a yamaka when playing the sax
