yea i miss that shit tho that's probably spotify's fault lol
doesn't transparently track plays (at least to my knowledge lol im new here but p sure you only see the year end stuff or relative rankings) but does the recommendation stuff while also actually hosting tunes

Youre wrong. The entire website use to give 10+ pages of recs and all your stats were given freely until it was bought by CBS which redesigned it and is now trying to make a profit off of something that wasn't ever a great business model just a cool thing to exist. Now you have to pay for stats that dont rly matter, like itd be neat to know what i listened to most for 6 months but i aint paying for it.  I imagine you get more with a subscription but damned if i care.

the stats were still freely available when i was the last person i personally knew still using the website in 2013 lol and I was only using it at that point for the recommendations really

scrobbling became a pain in the ass for most a v e r a g e people i would think since most folks had stopped using an ipod/itunes sometimes around the early 10s and that was all anyone used in the aughts (unless you were a zune weirdo)

anecdotally i think the site more-or-less fizzled out around the turn of the last decade, well before any of the cbs ownership redesign shenanigans.

last.fm is now nothing more to me than something that shows me what i've been listening to most lately. there's nothing left there other than my own damn charts

also i still use my ipod classic and itunes LMAO idk, only my ipod classic can actually fit all my shit and i still love that old thing
