X/Y's music overall was only decent for the franchise, but for this champion theme they really went all-out. it replaced Lance's theme for my favorite song from the franchise.

also, ok, so donkey kong country 2 has my favorite ost in video game history. and i've never been able to say which one is my favorite for very long - my choice is always changing. it used to be "in a snow-bound land," then it was "flight of the zinger"...but at this point, i think i honestly have to agree with the masses and say that the best, complete package truly is "stickerbrush symphony."

but i think it says a lot about this game's soundtrack when my top 5 (stickerbrush, snow-bound, zinger, mining melancholy, hot head bop) are all NEARLY equal in how fucking amazing they are. and goddamn lockjaw's locker and forest interlude are also SO GOOD now that i think about it

for kirby it's also extremely hard. i don't know if anyone here really feels as strongly about kirby as i do but i honestly believe that HAL has created some of the best video game soundtracks ever with these games. the series seriously has so many perfect songs. you could knock the kirby series for constantly re-using music, but i think that the way HAL is always remixing older tracks and re-using them really cranks up the nostalgia factor and helps make kirby games as cozy as they are

ultimately, i have to give it up to dreamland 3. best art style, best musical style. and this one in particular would have to be my pick for best in the franchise:

prime 1's ost is almost as good as super's, though. chozo ruins theme, phendrana drifts, tallon iv depths, underwater frigate theme. all amazing. but none of them are as good as the best stuff from super.

no!! i love that track to death, it's my second favorite song from dkc1. my favorite would be "life in the mines." "fear factory" also rules. dkc1's ost is also very very good, but overall it's just a little too much ambience and not enough melody for me personally. i feel like dkc2's strikes a much better balance and is far more memorable.
