• studied spanish in high school and i've since forgotten just about every word of it


• formally studied russian more recently and i've retained a good deal of it

and i don't think it's a matter of mere recency, either

russian is easier because its syntax is roughly equivalent to that of english like ~85% of the time, which i always found to be a surprising coincidence

i would like to be real-time conversational or even fluent one day, but the opportunities for russian exposure irl are p. limited lol

at best, i can have simple delayed conversations irl, or basic written ones

Studied Czech for a year and have forgotten most of it and combined it with:
Polish which I studied for half a year.

Sure minus the writing system versus slavic languages with cyrillic

But if you went from Russian to Polish, Polish would be wayyy easier since you already know the roman alphabet

naw but i really want to learn at least 2-3 more languages before i die, but its hard as fuck for my shitty brain. really need to learn spanish because it's practical and it's my gf's native tongue. at this point i hang around spanish speakers so much i can catch the gist of almost any conversation, but i have a hard time responding, mostly because one i get nervous about sounding like an idiot/gringo, and two i'm terrible at conjugations.

i studied russian in college but i've forgotten almost all of it besides hello and how are you and shit. i can still easily read cyrillic though. i still have all my textbooks though in the event that it seems more likely the rooskis are our new overlords. also i live literally right next to the russian embassy so i hear that shit all the time.

i also want to learn german pretty bad, maybe french or italian, and then either japanese or korean but either would be a massive undertaking so imma take some baby steps first.

that's because Spanish is actually useful/necessary most everywhere.

3 years of spanish in high school, and now learning japanese.

i would say my spanish ILR level is probably 2 now, i don't really practice it anymore. i started learning japanese last year and i would say my ILR level is about 1-2.
