i could not possibly care less about themes and i've always found them to be a weak reason to delay the implementation of boyah 2.0

1. if we end up having to use generic default smf 2.0 as a trade-off for boyah 2.0, i'm completely okay with that, i'd get used to it eventually and the benefits of the upgrade would certainly outweigh the costs of theme loss/2.0 ugliness

2. but that won't happen because if generic default smf 2.0 truly is hideous enough, someone here will be motivated to, at the very least, make a few different basic color themes that are more palatable

3. we already have members here now in this thread offering to make full themes

4. we simply won't know what themes we'll even want/need until we make the switch and get a sense of the look and feel of smf 2.0

so yeah i vote that we proceed with or without any themes, we can worry about basic cosmetics later

Hiro

I've been waiting for 2.0 and I know a few things would be fixed, but honestly what benefits outweigh the costs of having it look like a generic shitforum
like what actual benefits are we going to be seeing from the move to 2.0

also whatever snorkel did at some point made the backup a lot faster.

like 30 seconds for each instead of the 10 minutes before

oh wow

i did notice how quick that was

good to know that snorkel can still be useful even in absentia happydood;

Kalahari Inkantation
remember nyerp's ragepost after we lost several months of activity due to a failed backup or w/e

i genuinely agreed with nyerp
It used to be automated weekly but when we moved servers like 1million times the cronjob kept breaking

Kalahari Inkantation

Daddy

I could but, tbh it's kind of useless unless the backup is also moved offsite as well, and the original script didn't fix that either.

Because if the server goes down (which is what happened last time) it doesn't matter if we have hourly backups on the same server.

Kalahari Inkantation

i see

So what might be the most effective way for us to go about automating backups on a regular schedule? befuddlement

Daddy

Find me som free offsite storage solution that can be script lol

I think maybe amazon's free tier of aws could work.

Kalahari Inkantation

just how much data does a boyah backup take up lol
