it's just so weird to me that the inherent issue is so common. it's not like japanese-american actors don't exist here. why not use them?

I don't really think this is EXACTLY the same issue. I'm guessing its just an American reimagining, not like ghost in the shell, where the character is SUPPOSED to be Japanese.


But since I don't know, I didn't look anything up, I guess we'll see

lmao according to hollywood and tv people americans don't want to see minorities in movies because they can't relate to them.

I watched it. It was ok.

The biggest takeaway is that character motivations are pretty much completely different.
Idk, honestly, as far as american reimaginings go, it's better than most.
