you get the idea now. only took 5 minutes to do but look how effective it as a simple first line of defense against intruding eyes in order to buy you some time.

You'd be shocked how quickly a computer program can break a cipher like this.

and for david uh i guess it depends on if you're willing to trust the app's encryption or not.

Or if you wanna just roll everything into PGP

So it can verify that I am definitely the one who wrote the message.

This, however, is encrypted and only people holding the private key for the public keys to which I wrote this can open.

I'm associate director of a state agency doing computer security  baddood;

a quick search doesn't really show what algorithm they're using for encryption on whatsapp.  i'm guessing whatsapp or signal are using "good enough" encryption but like you're still risking someone losing their phone.

well for me. i lucked out.

we had a breach right after i graduated and the CIO offered me a 6 month contract position to work on the new information security team (then it got extended another 6 months, then full time) but I had only studied computer science.

there's so much job growth that there's more open positions than people qualified in the field.

though a lot of companies don't pay as much as they should because they under allocate resources

is the work interesting? i was making youtube videos with a certain large television giant, in a small office with small teams, staff pretty young too, and i literally had like 5 things to do a day that took maybe 2-3 hours tops. i didn't like it, the rest of the time was spent sitting trying to look busy, and nobody socialized ever so yeah, that gave me doubts about media work.

yeah lots of problem solving though if you hate having to deal with compliance with standards, laws, and policies, it can get tedious

Previously I dealt more with analysis and incident response which is fun. After the promotion a good chunk of policy and admin stuff got dumped on me. boohoo
