i just think that the media blows out of proportion certain qualities of politicians. i think political decisions come off as extremely one decided depending on what you are in favor of and people really struggle to see the trade-offs that politicians face when making said decisions

idk man i just feel like 95% of people saying hillary is corrupt (and the same blanket statements for trump and bernie) would fail a test that actually looked at what is going on in the world. i don't think it's the people's faults, either. i think the media plays it in way that is easy to digest (bcuz that's what people want- not bcuz of mass corruption) and that leads to people making rash statements like x politician being horrible

like if you really know what you're talking about and you say a politician is a horrible person i probably wont argue with you. i just get the sense that you really dont know what you're talking about in the grand scheme of US politics and that is why it frustrates me

i agree that most are unaware that decisions have trade-offs especially when it comes to politics. but when a lot of these decisions affect people in unimaginable ways (particularly those people who are underrepresented, vulnerable, and/or just plain invisible to most) it is hard to separate the person from the decidion at hand. especially when its a recurring theme in how the politician functions.

also in the same way you can argue that a lot of things arent quite so clear-cut, you can argue that they arent so complex. a straight-forward association can be made.

i literally understand that being a politician is hard but it stops being an excuse when she is consistently hawkish and pro-corporate

its this sort of stunted bullshit that leads to politicians not being held responsible for their actions. there absolutely needs to be more discussion in american politics on overlooked things like this but people would rather get caught up in irrelevant discussions like "being a politician is hard" or "you cant say shes a bad person".
