i'm trying to close my account with bank of american because it has $20 left in it and they are taking $12 every month because i dont have enough money in it so soon it will have 0 (i still have money it is just thai now)

this seems like as good of a time as ever to close my account and go with a credit union. in college i constantly heard from our local credit union how amazing and not evil they were, and i've heard about people with good experiences with them elsewhere

are they good??? do you use one?? what bank do you use? are you satisfied?

my credit union (desjardins) is so large it might as well be a bank tbh

it's nice idk

squirrelfriend

i'm with one of the larger credit unions and i'm glad they have branches in some towns that are normally flyover country

Classic

I greatly prefer credit unions to banks. The smaller ones like I use may not have as many fancy features as big banks but they don't treat you like shit so that's all I need.

i'm an idiot what is the difference between a bank and a credit union? lol

Classic

Credit unions don't make you have a specific amount in your account. Checking and savings can both be $0, you won't be reprimanded. From my experience, it's a more personal feeling. The people you treat you better and will generally work with you on almost anything.

Other than that, I don't know an ACTUAL difference between the two besides my bias lololol

lol idk either

all i know is that i can go 0.  BUT if i go more than $6 into the red- i have to pay a daily fee

it's some obscure bank only in the suburbs near chicago lol

i don't pay anything per month (is that really a thing where ppl pay money just to keep a place to store money or idk)

Technology and globalism go hand and hand. If you want to be on the forefront of technology then you gotta be global

the earth is flat you globecuck

um you have to have a minimum balance at many credit unions because that would be your "share" and membership in a credit union

Unlike banks, credit unions are financial membership organizations. You don't open an account at a credit union, you become a member and use your deposits to buy shares in the business.

Second, unlike banks, credit unions are non-profit organizations. Their profits are distributed right back to their members. Because of this, credit unions often charge lower fees than banks and pay higher interest rates on savings accounts, money market accounts, interest checking accounts and certificates of deposit.

But not all offer debit cards and many have limited branches.

Hope that helps. I use a bank.

i dont have a credit union but i need to get one soon to widen that portfolio

but yeah i also only use usaa for banking and i've never had a bad experience tbh lol so i've never felt the need to invest elsewhere really lol

Daddy

i bank with a credit union cuz i can

tho i also have a checking account w/ simple and a savings with amex

YPrrrr

I used a credit union for 6 years and it was awesome. They gave you grace periods on all of your payments, even though I never really needed it. The interest rates were low. The only real downside was that if I went out of state I had to pay to use other banks atms. But otherwise all good stuff.

Now I do most of my banking with USAA because it's amazing and they pay transaction fees for me but I still keep my credit union account open. They gave me a better rate on my car than even USAA which is shocking

there's something a lil appealing by being abused by every institution that exists.
