anyway i texted the guy with the passat, hopefully i get a text back

i had texted him asking if there's any mechanical issues in the car that he's aware of, and he simply texted back, "nice car. runs great." which doesn't entirely answer the question.

and uh lol i've been looking into common issues with the Passat and it's not looking pretty

if you go to /o/ there is a VIN check thread. Dude will check VINs for you and give you the vehicle report. Tells you the status of the title etc.

tbh, yeah i kind of am. i've never been a fan of driving larger vehicles.

it's just bad luck and being in the wrong place at the wrong time. deer are more active during dusk/sunset hours than during daylight or absolute darkness. this is when i hit the first deer. the second deer can be pretty much blamed on where i was. a little highway surrounded on either side by dense forest, so when the deer came out onto the road it came from a place where i couldn't have seen it coming. i probably won't be using that route anymore lol

serious question:
why not get a moped, or even just a decent commuter bicycle?

you could easily get a moped and A+ rain gear and it would come out leagues cheaper than a car with way less future money to be spent on gas an maintenance. i could say the same thing about bikes but if you're commuting 20 miles each way that is a harder sell. then for long distances you either have adventurous moped journeys or you just take a bus
