C.Mongler

game is "pick kirby or pikachu, win" and it which seems to permeates every level of play from what little of 'competitive' smash 64 i've seen, but it's especially stupid if you're just trying to play it 4 fun. smash 64 was my dorm common room go2, and i'd just always pick kirby 4 ez free victory beers, it was dumb, but the other dumbasses in my dorm didn't believe that any one character could be broken, so i got away with it until i got bored and just stopped joining them whenever they wanted to play that game.

i mean it was great for the time, and it's *fine* now i guess but it got really boring unless you wanted to get to the literal break the game levels of play, which why bother when Melee is a thing and I don't even want to invest myself in that lol. there were just much, much better n64 games

strongbad

eh yeah pika and kirby are the best characters but not by a crazy amount- you can be competitive with just about anyone in the cast (in fact the #1 ranked player would just play a different char at every tourney)

i agree that melee is way better and would always choose it over 64 but 64 is still pretty sick competitively because of how broken some things are and how easy combos are (relative to melee at least)

my favorite thing as a shameless 64 kirby main :3
especially how there is so much shieldstun that you can literally break someone's shield if you hit it with one uptilt and are spaced well enough to keep uptilting lmao
and @ other n64 games idk lol i dont know if ive played any games on 64 that have aged well at all. i'm probably just a smash nerd but i will stand strong with ssb64

C.Mongler

but thats what i'm saying, as someone with no interest in literally breaking the game, or playing with people who do, it's just boring because kirby is retarded at a casual level lol look at that fucking hitbox lol

and if u think smash aged gracefully, mario 64, both zeldas, paper mario, starfucks, conker, and banjo kazooies would all like 2 have a word with u

i think it's because i never owned a 64 in its prime so i have zero nostalgia for games that aren't smash (since i played it at friends). id love to play most of those games with HD remakes though hocuspocus;

Nah Civ 3 is my least favorite Civ by a huge margin. I still played it a lot but it didn't bring me the joy of II, IV, or V (never played I)
