idk if this is unique to me but like one christmas i wanted a nintendo 64 and i thought my parents agreed to put it on layaway

on christmas morning, i opened the box to a playstation instead that i never really touched except for like crash bandicoot. though the playstation had a good enough library to be honest so i don't really think it was really all that bad. but i couldn't get the games i actually wanted for it and my dad ended up buying games that were supposedly for me but really were for him. (madden 1997 wtf dad you know i was walking in my mom's highheels)

one year i wanted a gamecube or a ps2 over an xbox. of course by process of elimination, my parents bought me an xbox instead. madden 2003, halo, games i really had no interest in. i had to buy blinx because it was the only game i could afford no games. jet set radio future was the pack-in game and i had some fun with it tbh but my mom was perturbed by the song lyrics and the dialogue.

oh one time i wanted a new computer and my dad said it was for me but it ended up being his computer etc.

tfw this is why i had to wait till i was older to get the consoles i actually wanted (and idk why they bought one over the other considering the gamecube was cheaper than the xbox. i think it was my dad who really wanted the aforementioned consoles.  in hindsight, my dad is like an annoying retarded older brother to be honest.)

Nothing. When I was older I got money.
i think i did seem ingrateful there tbh sorry :x
but it felt like a dick move
like i think would have been happier if i didn't get it at all tbh or if my dad didn't beat me for the one year i wanted an easybake oven tbh
like i can't handle holding knives or cooking equipment because when i tried to learn how to cook he beat me pretty badly when i was younger
like i wish i was joking and this post is semi-serious ;-;

here's a present you clearly never wanted and hey i'll take it if you don't want it - dad
also no girl's toys for boys i'm not going to raise a fag - dad

pretty much yeah that's why i can't tolerate men at all

I had a good childhood. Dad always got me what I wanted except a horse. Living in the city made it impossible.

I always thought it strange when my friend (male) got sweepers, mixers, easy bake ovens and stuff for presents. That was before I was old enough to understand about sexual identities.

Daddy

I was 2 poor and can't really complain because it was money that my family didn't really have but still spent saddood;

as a result i dont really like holidays where gifts are an obligation because they make me feel really uncomfortable

Sometimes XL shirts just mean extra wide especially when it comes to sports jerseys and stuff. So I specifically ask for large shirts on certain items because otherwise the shirt will be like twice as wide as me and looks like a tent. But he always insists on getting me XL even when I specify large. I don't know why but it's super frustrating to get a jersey or something I wanted but then know I'll never wear it outside of the house because it looks ridiculous.

Idk I feel bad because they're just trying to be nice and I should appreciate anything I get but having my preference completely discarded sucked

similar experience with my grandparents
they are super wanna be posh and every year they get me the preppiest shit from polo you could imagine
eventually i started being like "okay i want this exact shirt from this company in this size" because every year i would feel guilty fake being happy about ludicrously overpriced clothing that i never wore

my claim to fame is an $80 cashmere scarf they bought me when i was 18 lol
it is kinda neat actually i think i would have a better chance pulling it off with my current wardrobe

my grandparents did the same thing and I'd only really wear the clothes to church. I'd probably actually like those sorts of clothes if they still gave them now hirl;

one time i wanted a nice loaf of bread, but because of democratic socialism i was only able to get the poorest quality of bread as it's only fair for everybody to be forced to have equally shitty bread from the breadline on rations day.
