tbh most indie games....aren't actually indie games. i don't think there's a good definition of what it means  to be indie since a lot of so called indie games are funded by big ass companies.

true, but the term is "indie developer," not "indie developer and distributor"

But I don't quite understand what makes a game indie. I'm just saying I agree with silvertone's point and that indie isn't universally defined. it's semantics I know but like some games that are commonly termed indie games are published by big labels like square-enix and sony.  Like what characterizes an indie game? The small scale of the project? A developer new to the scene? Would Mighty No. 9 be considered an indie game for example since it's made by an independent company despite the fact it's produced by an established developer in the industry? Would Kojima's next game be considered indie?

If a game gets crowdfunded, does that necessarily make it indie? Lamestream developers sometimes use that to give their project DIY cred. I just want to know what y'mean by "indie"?

C.Mongler

life must be tough if every time you hear the word 'indie' you break down crying yelling WHAT DOES THAT MEAN i would think  doodhuh;
