at best two, but that's because the new 3ds xl is laughably expensive for what it si

4k graphics would require the PC equivilant of an i5 and like a gtx970, shits not going to be 399.99 USD lol, at best you're looking at a 499.99 price tag homie and thats if AMD cuts them a major fuckin manufacturing deal

also if this is true it's probably being made for PSVR almost entirely; i wouldn't be surprised if there's a bundle that's damn near a grand for both.

These reports have been floating around for a while.

Here's an article from February 2015:

And another from October 2015:

What makes you think that? Being a console that supports 4K graphics for games doesn't imply that all or even most games will function at that quality level.

Console libraries have a fair share of non-AAA games with very simplistic graphical assets and effects. Some of those games probably could even run in 4K on Intel Graphics if they were available on PC.

This is the first report I've seen indicating that the 4K PS4 will have increased processing power for games or that it'll affect PSVR at all, but the source is Kotaku. The previous reports focused on 4K for multimedia like Netflix and Blu-Rays.

I mean fair point on the all games part, but what makes you think that it wouldn't involve or require a significant hardware upgrade? 4k is EXTREMELY demanding. I mean if we're talking 4k versions of pong, sure, close to current specs might be fine, but then what's even the point? that's even worse than the new 3ds levels of buffoonery. yes i get that consoles have way different optimizations and spec requirements for running games than pc, but they would need some literal magic to get modern 3d games running at 4k on a ps4 at the price point it is now, and i doubt sony's going to fuck around with it to just get rouge legacy and hotline miami running at 4k on their system

for example i have an i5 with a 660 ti, which is admittedly shitty for a gaming rig, but my parents recently got a 4k tv so i decided to fuck around with it over Christmas break. i pushed one of my faves, dota 2, a decently optimized game, runs at 120 FPS on ultra at the usual 1080P resolution, into 4k. I had to bump it down to medium and it struggled to stay at 30 fps, and i quickly decided to stop fuckin around with it cuz my pc sounded really sad.

here's some other 4k PC tests:
http://www.anandtech.com/show/7120/some-quick-gaming-numbers-at-4k-max-settings
but as I think you were implying, comparing pc and console specs is kind of a pointless endevour to begin with so i digress

all im saying is as a 4 month long ps4 owner, i'm just gonna be salty if they announce/release a 6-700 dollar ps4 a few months down the line that has a bunch of baller PS4K ONLY games and i have to buy another dang ps4 to play em, CUZ I WONT DO IT
