I just booted into Windows and tried Safari 3 for myself; and oh my god, I love the heavy font smoothing. Actually, the font smoothing is one of the reasons I love OS X. Even though it could use a little work (of course, it's an OS X program on Windows lol), I love the smoothing. I seriously need a way to get Firefox, or at least Ubuntu, to get this smooth.

I really like Safari, but I prefer Firefox over it. Firefox has awesome third-party add-on support, and I can't browse without my extensions; so I'm going to stick with Firefox. But overall, this browsers pretty good; right up there with Opera and Firefox. So, all you Internet Explorer users that are too scared to try Firefox -- for god's sake, just get Safari or something.

I'm pretty sure I'm still going to prefer Firefox. For pretty much the same reasons you do, actually.
But it could easily replace Opera as my backup browser. caterpie;
