Where I'm from home room isn't a class, it's just the designated meeting place for the morning announcements before you head out to your first class confuseddood;
homeroom in middle schools 4 me was our first period class

in high school we had this thing called "advisory" which was a 20 minute waste of time that served that period shoved between second and third periods

Classic

YPrrrr

But you didn't learn anything in it right? huhdoodame;

It's basically just fuck around time until next period??

Classic

Yes, it was an actual class.

All 3 years of middle school, my homeroom class was English.

It's also treated the same in High School in Texas.

If you were in band/athletics, those were your homeroom classes. If you weren't in band or athletics, you had an actual class like math or chemistry.

What you guys are describing is what we called "Study Hall".  n_u

But that "class" was for kids who didn't have extracurricular activities like band or athletics.

We had that but there was no talking and you expected to read or do your homework.

For athletics or band you either came before school started or stayed after it ended

"study hall" here was a punishment for not signing up for an elective class

honestly, you couldn't even study there.  it was in the auditorium so there was no place for you to actually do work.  i ended up just listening to podcasts and reading books when i had it
