Kalahari Inkantation

of course, russia isn't exactly the type of actor known for admitting defeat on any level

http://thinkprogress.org/world/2014/07/30/3465744/russia-wants-to-send-`peacekeepers’-to-mh17-crash-site/

http://blogs.cfr.org/davidson/2014/07/30/putin-appears-to-be-angling-for-invasion-not-de-escalation/

so perhaps relinquishing crimea wouldn't be of any help at all lol

in either case they're never getting it back

true, though i'd sure hope ukraine is realistic enough to understand that whether or not the """west""" """recognizes""" a foreign claim is utterly meaningless in practical terms, especially in this case

the most pragmatic approach for ukraine at this point is to hopefully beat back russia's irregular forces in donbas, relinquish crimea in the aftermath as a bargaining chip to alleviate tensions and get russia to fuck; off, and move on

the sooner they acknowledge that they're never getting it back, the sooner we can put this all behind us
and the sooner they can join us in nato because territorial integrity is a fundamental prerequisite
the day russia agrees to "fuck; off" from one of her slav sisters, is the day hell truly freezes over.  it's almost ingrained into the russian raison d'ĂȘtre to protect all slavs from perceived threats, which nato def. is to them.

Kalahari Inkantation

unfortunately, although they sure do have an odd definition of "protect"

i can only hope that with enough negative reinforcement they'll at least learn to stop antagonizing the last slav sister to leave the nest so blatantly, but i'm not exactly optimistic

WHITERUSSLAND IS STILL VERY MUCH IN THE MOTHERLAND'S BOSOM!!

and i'm sure it wouldn't take much to scare the russlanders in the baltics to revolt

Kalahari Inkantation

whiterussand will never leave the nest rofl

ukraine will be the last, if ever she makes it out alive

and maybe, but they've been pretty tame thus far, and russian speakers are a much smaller percent of the baltic populations than they are in ukraine

christ, that has to hurt

roshen is ukraine's largest chocolate and confectionery company, founded by incumbent president poroshenko

the irony is that russia's sanctions will hurt more than the ones the west is trying to impose on it n_u

Kalahari Inkantation

especially when you consider that virtually every ukrainian company has suffered or will soon suffer equally massive market loss

sillydood;
this will just cause dissatisfaction w/ the rest of ukrainians

Kalahari Inkantation

it definitely will

and economic unrest as a result of western/eu realignment is the absolute best thing russia could possibly hope for lol

i pray to gourd ukraine is capable of long-term thinking, because 201X is going to be a rough decade

Wanna bet? myface;

but greece was at least (assumed to be) economically sound when it gained entry into the eu/eurozone, and ukraine's economy too will need to stabilize before anyone even considers sending them a formal invite
rofl as if ukraine will EVER be economically stable goowan
