Actually the interface is just misleading. "Pokemon list" only says you have party pokemon, but "Battle Start" gives battle box as an option.

gg blu, i fucked up by using spiky shield, i think the light screen would've saved my tyrantrum from instant death had i used earthquake first but i have no proof of that
