So I think I'll start streaming movies when I get set up.
The first night would be a Science Fiction Double Feature of Rocky Horror and Shock Treatment, but I have other movies as well. I don't have a set schedule, but what is generally a good night for you guys to attend?

And what would I need to do to get ready to stream? I would also like to stream future Wii U games as well. So what would I need there.

All help is appreciated. Let's get this happening.

sign up for a livestream free account
download procaster and vlc to play video
you could use a webcam to capture a television or you could use a hdmi capture unit to feed into the computer

you could also try twitch.tv.  i'm not sure if its streaming software is lighter or whatnot, however that site seems more geared toward gaming streams unlike livestream.

also, if you do go with livestream, just make sure it's on the old livestream set up and not the new one n_u

I use OBS (http://obsproject.com/) to stream my games. It can really be used for anything. It's really light and takes up little to no resources. Much better than Procrasher or FME. You can use it to broadcast to anywhere, a lot of people use it on Twitch because it's so light though.

Some movies I have are Blu-Ray. Do they have special protection to disable streaming?

Not that I know of.

But for console streaming you'll need a capture card and if you want a good one, they're not cheap.

It depends if you want to do A/V, component, or HDMI.

If you want just simple A/V, my personal recommendation is the Terratec Grabby (http://www.amazon.com/TerraTec-Digitize-Interface-Standards-Windows/dp/B001PA8WCW). Most capture cards labeled as "Game Grabber" or "Gaming Capture Card" are over priced. I use a Dazzle DVC 100. Dazzles are hard to get to work, but once you get it to work, it fucking works. I've had no problem with it. Now keep in mind that on top of that capture card, you'll need the splitters too.

This is what my set up looks like unhooked.

I love your carpet.

The Wii U set up is HDMI, and I would probably use it for DVD/Blu-Ray streaming too.

Thanks!

Most HDMI capture cards will be internal, meaning you need a desktop. goowan
