so it's been confirmed that the xbox one uses a standard 2.5-inch sata hard drive, just like the ps4

which leads me to wonder all the more why they didn't opt to make it user-replaceable

hdds are often the least reliable component in computer systems, and making it irreplaceable by the user means that failure rates for the xbox one are going to shoot up dramatically after the ~5 year life expectancy of the average hdd

the system was otherwise designed to last ten years
