tumblr is not worse than 4chan what the fuck??? on tumblr you can easily avoid extremist blogs you don't like but 4chan (especially in recent years) has alt-right and nazis infesting every single board, turning it into a hive of racism, sexism, etc.

4chan regularly says shit like "gas the kikes" and "day of the rope soon". please find me the evil tumblr version of this please because i don't think it exists, and if it does then it hasn't overtaken the whole site culture. inb4 "lol why are you taking those anonymous posts so seriously they're just trolls??" nah, they're real people who go on image boards to vent their true feelings without taking responsibility for the shit they say, while also radicalizing other people like them. at least on tumblr there's some form of accountability for saying ridiculous shit.

besides, twitter has the nuttier leftists due to the awful format and people obsessed with getting retweets for their hot takes. i'd still take it over 4chan though.

the difference between 4chan and tumblr is that stereotypically 4chan opinions like 'genocide minority x' are so fringe and so reprehensible that nobody outside of larpers on 4chan/stormfront/reddit actually give them any serious thought

opinions of this nature have virtually no political power anywhere in the world, and the average sane person who sees them effortlessly dismisses them as nonsense, rolls their eyes and moves on about their day

furthermore, right-wing politicians do explicitly denounce these fringe groups, and at the very least, certainly aren't publicly endorsing them

4chan preys on the minds of mentally ill or emotionally damaged white men and it's going to do lasting damage to their minds and how they think and live and also they will run people over at protests.

this is actually completely true though and it's quite terrifying

/pol/ and its associates go out of their way to deliberately induce mental illness and economic/racial anxiety among vulnerable loners and it's extremely dangerous and definitely directly leads to domestic terrorism

i would say that 4chan is actually somehow even (much) worse than tumblr in this regard; tumblr as far as i can see at least least doesn't deliberately induce mental illness in vulnerable people, rather tumblr concentrates/normalizes/glorifies/amplifies preexisting mental illness (which of course in and of itself is dangerous and stupid but not quite as evil as intentionally inducing it for the express goal of inciting hatred)
