what is  a shiny id?

also sorry i haven't been on to trade speed boost venipede or whatever i have, i've been busy

it's a hidden trainer value that determines whenever an egg will hatch as a shiny in one person's game
the egg also has a different shiny id as well so you can trade with other people who have matching shiny ids

i kept either killing him, or he would get burned and kill himself by not recovering

Burn and Poison do damage, which really isn't something you want on legendaries you're trying to catch, and also has a lower catch rate than sleep and paralysis

Oh, I guess I mixed up some of the Gen6 changes. Apparently only Electric, not Ground, resists all forms of paralysis.
Glare does the same and has higher accuracy, but lower availability

It's still annoying when my Gardevoir is paralyzed and then Synchronize fails
