Will we have to remake our characters when the game launches?

I don't think they've said yet. But I hope at least the design will carry over even if everything else gets wiped.

From what I know your character is kept, though their progress, weapons etc will be wiped. Also on the 26th they are supposedly holding some sort of even with some things you can get that will be transferred into the final game.
I'll probably remake my character anyways in the final version though since they will likely (at least I hope) offer more options in the final character creator.
