the ps2, psp, ps3, and 360 have all had various redesigns and i don't see you ever making comments about those

I guarantee it costs no more than 50 cents to manufacture. It's really just two little LEDs exactly like the ones that send a signal from a TV remote.

Though I haven't actually tried Kinect or PS Move, the idea behind the sensor bar seems more reliable and useful to me than visible light cameras sound like they would be.
