I've played a couple Japanese Pokemon games because, although I didn't actually commit to doing so, I intended to learn the language to some extent and use them as simple reading context.

Ended up ignoring most text outside of pokemon/move/town/item names, menu text, and just a few important lines (mostly in battle), pretty much ruining most of the point, but whatever

Pokemon games are simple enough that a translation guide shouldn't even be necessary outside of maybe something like identifying which move is which.
