This is the first building I walk into every morning that I have class.

It's pretty cool knowing that humans built this almost 100 years ago with no aid from computers and built it over 500 feet tall. Most of the time I just walk in here and think of it as nothing more than a school building, but somedays I stop, look around, and realize just how impressive it is. befuddlement

You go to Pitt?

I guess the coolest stuff about my campus is that the whole thing is a National Historic Landmark, because about half of the buildings and the entire master plan were designed by Mies, when he was the dean of the College of Architecture here after fleeing Nazi Germany. And of course Crown Hall where I had my studio classes every day for two years, is a National Historic Landmark itself, and among the top 5 most significant modernist structures in the world, and possibly #1:

Of course I can also see the tallest building in the western hemisphere from my kitchen window so that's cool too.

the only thing that's cool about it is sometimes i see cats  akudood;
this use to be true, but the cats no longer come around. but at my work i am able to nearly displace Myself from my body and turn it (body) into an automaton while Me(myself) can go into the deeper reaches of my imagination. it is Pure and natural escapism but it is mine >;[

that building is magnificent lawlz, it is like having the solar system as your back yard, very grand and majestic. you have to think about it in stages to comprehend the effort, and in an instant you behold in awe, the glory and the rapture that is that structure, i mean, holy shit metaphysical nirvana, what more could you ask for?

at school, there is a pond by which i sit at and stare at the ducks, there is a couple, a colored male with a mohawk and a white one. there is a fountain.

the campus itself used to be a girl's dormitory back in the 40's and 50s, and when i think of this the layout of our main building makes much more sense, the winged corridors and many rooms, the grand staircase. i imagine all of these girls in the morning waking up and in such careful order walking down from the bedrooms to the main hall, and then i imagine them in the most disorganized fashion scurrying about, laughing and giggling.

amelia airheart attended there in the 30s, and there is a picture of her with some of the classes in these long panoramic photographs. my god they are so beautiful, all lined up in a row, their while blouses, bonnet hair, blue skirts and gorgeous, full faces. it is almost painful, how they stare at me from the world beyond, behind glass and history, when i cannot touch them. but how they affect me, i marvel, they sure do not make them like that any more. those were some women, that generation had it good.

but the sad thing is, they keep all of these beauties hanging in the display room in the cellar of the library, where hardly anyone dare goes unless they have to. and who sees them but shadows and dust on the wall, where those lovely eyes stare empty in the abyss, and do not fall upon a curious face, who happens to glace a treasure from a world long gone.

Hiro
