It looks like the appropriate process is to "apply for a leave of absence" which would allow me to return either in the fall or spring and keep my scholarship. I could return here or transfer somewhere else. Hopefully they will grant me a leave of absence? I guess I don't know why they wouldn't...though it is called "applying" for a reason I am sure.  doodthing;

But I know I can support myself here in the short term with a cheap job. I don't think I would have that much trouble finding one.

i would find a job before you quit school. you don't want to end up in dire straits.

Well, I am pretty positive that I can find a minimum wage job if I looked hard enough. Worst case I have 1 month left on my lease here and could move home, but I pray to god that doesn't happen.

idk it took me five months to find a job here in asheville. i don't know what the job market is in chicago. I figured since its a bigger city then it would be harder to find a job seeing as how there's a shitton of people. of course bigger cities mean bigger opportunities.

You don't think walking down every single commercial street and asking every business if they are hiring would work?

im not saying it won't work, im just saying you shouldn't go without a source of income banking on a idea.

you should quit school if you're not happy. im all for doing whatever makes you feel good. I'm just going off my experience.  This girl i was seeing was here for a year and she still couldn't find a job. Everyone is looking,

again, chicago is a bigger city, so you'll probably have more opportunities for work.

I support this change in things. I've learned painfully that you have to follow your heart, and when you don't, even the most compelling effort and beliefs can but only rearrange things to make them seem mediocre, and lasting. But not much more than this, because it was never meant to be. And this is a sad and terrible state of affairs to find yourself in.

Leave it all behind.
Start something new.
See how it feels.
Go from there.

The country's been panicking the past five years because unemployment rates have been so high. Don't just immediately quit everything and expect a job to fall in your lap, because even if you do find a job, they probably won't ask you to start immediately.
