We have this giant plant in our house and a week or so ago I noticed this fine webbing between the leaves and thought, 'oh, a little spider has found a home, I wont bother it...' So here I am today inspecting this flower for water and such when I start to notice that the webbing has grown, I don't see any bugs stuck on there so this is a surprise, but I do see that the web is filled with these little particle like things. Initially I thought it was dust, and was a bit shocked by the amount of duck in my house and what I could be inhaling every second. In order to examine this I leaned in very close and noticed that the little particles were moving! They are little itty bitty baby spiders, BY THE FUCKING HUNDREDS! Just crawling all over that plant.

This plant is in my living room.

Now I am worried where they are all going to go once they mature? On the one hand I hate having to kill spiders, on the other hand, I can't have hundreds of spiders, no matter how benign, crawling all over the house, even if most of them die off due to lack of sustenance.

Anyone recommend a method for removal? I don't want to harm the plant by spraying any sort of chemical on it, but I am not looking forward to scrubbing it by hand.

Oh damn it, it looks like my entire plant might be fucked already! They are not just any normal spider, no, they are SPIDER MITES , who feed on plants and suck out their precious fluids and destroy worlds and foliage alike. I must absolutely abolish them. I have no love such creatures, it is to my own sadness and regret that I do not have another spider near, for it appears they would just eat them into oblivion. I could try finding one in the basement and transporting it to my plant, but I might die if I take this course of action. So I have a mask, some gloves, water, heart and soul, and these fucking spider mites are mine!

This is what the situation looks like now. More or less across much of the plant.
I am also itching after taking this photograph and am now pathologically going insane trying to ignore the subtle itching.
Because it is not real.

Will try to report back soon.
Pray for me.

Put the plant outside for an hour and spray it down or something.

I wish now that I could have done this. I looked in vain for a spray bottle to no avail. So I ended up mixing a solution with hot water and minimum amounts of equal parts red wine vinegar and palmolive liquid soap. I then slightly soaked a paper towel into this and rinsed it with normal water, then gentle tore it into little pieces and proceeded to thoroughly and meticulously clean every single blade of leaf, stem, etc... it was repetitive and dull and not very easy and i had to be both delicate, precise and effective. Minimal green stuff came off the leaves and I don't think to solution will harm the plant, I sprinkled some water on it afterwards to clean it out. Now I must find some scissors and trim the yellow and dying foliage.

I can see why that poor plant was turning for the worst. They were all over it, and I felt like they got on me but I just ignored it and am now going to go and take a shower.

Also, I was so very clean, and cordoned off my area, had everything arranged and disposed of neatly, which made me feel pretty awesome.

Oh, yeah, you should have used hairspray. That would have solidified the little bastardos.
