It's not the word you should blame (Who is blaming the word?), for it only tries to reflect a concept, and concepts are conscious creations, which means they are as enduring and varied as dust is with the wind (Who is questioning its longevity, specificity, or permanence?). But, it it helps you sleep at night, know that such a terms has only been around for the last 200 years or so. If (verb?) that. Should tell you something about society and culture and people, by studying the way they craft their language to fit their perspective to make sense of the world. Laughable, that anything is to be learned from an improper definition other than perhaps the sad state of writing/editing and a cultural movement towards "who gives a fuck?"
Did I address your pretentious douchebaggery enough?

I highly doubt that you have any problem with addiction, but I'd still recommend a psychologist
isn't it normal for words like "addiction" and "addict" (which aren't the OG form of the word) to reference the OG form of the word in their definitions? because in this case "addicted" is the OG word
I procrastinate to the point of causing major problems, and I feel as though it’s not that I dislike doing what I procrastinate so much as it is some sort of subconscious craving for the rush of knowing I have less time to do something than it will take me to do it and the adrenaline build-up that comes with thinking about that

this is normal

edit:  every single high schooler and college kid I've ever talked to does this

Yes but you treat the whole thing like it's abstract. I took it much more personally. The most obscene thing is to call something sincere, pretentious. We all have different expectations, I don't judge my life the same as you do. Having said that, what I expressed was an opinion, and for that I am entitled to and expected your response, for it is only fair. And the world is big enough for even more. But still while going to hell, and that my friend, is why I don't care for the editing and writer's standards, because it is like arranging your suit and desk before the inferno. I'm just trying to get to a few truths in this life before I don't have it anymore, trust me, whatever pretences there are, could not be more superficial.

Yeah, I'll put in my name here too.

Although, I can relate to the truly detrimental aspect of real procrastination (beyond putting off a paper until the night before or something like that).

I began procrastinating with everything, dangerously so (except for bills, thank yod). I would hold off on scheduling classes until only a few weeks before (and effectively screw myself out (or in) of opportunities (maybe this was/is some kind of subconscious poke to actually get me to quit school)). I'd put off scheduling an appointment with a mechanic until that squeaking belt in my car actually snapped. I'd cancel and reschedule appointments for later dates at the last second.

There's something to it. Unfortunately, it's creeping back into my routine after killing it for a long time. Starts with the little things...

Who knows.

Procrastination is my gateway drug.
