I am 100% serious. It is beginning to effect my life way too much. I procrastinate to the point of causing major problems, and I feel as though it’s not that I dislike doing what I procrastinate so much as it is some sort of subconscious craving for the rush of knowing I have less time to do something than it will take me to do it and the adrenaline build-up that comes with thinking about that. And I know that a large draw to urban exploration for myself is the adrenaline. The adrenaline of putting myself in real or perceived physical danger, and the adrenaline of putting myself in legal danger. Perhaps it’s not just the adrenaline, and it is also the post fight/flight endorphine release? Maybe my years of cross country and track got me addicted and after I stopped running I needed more? Where can I find information about this?

I mean, like, should I go talk to some sort of doctor about this?

applesauce

meh, doesn't sound that serious

I agree but I can sense that it is impairing my decisions in life-- I take risks I probably shouldn't, I have crazy priorities, and I'm pretty sure I am procrastinating things (to their detriment) for the purpose of the rush.

Talk to the pig in Geico  commercials.  You remind me of him and the happy attitude he has.

I'm addicted to adrenaline, too. I just get it from different, LEGAL places. Namely, I enjoy going to the range and shooting the biggest and most powerful guns they have.
Also, explosives and big booms. Mmmmm

i'm addicted to instant gratification
i.e. weed, masturbating, melee

i've been working on doing things that enforce long term gratification but it's a hard road.

honestly though if you feel like it is impacting your life in a negative way than you should definitely do something about it. however, if you enjoy it and consider it an important part of your life, then i say you're fine.

I've found that I have an addictive personality, and it doesn't so much matter what the focus is as long as it gives me some sense of pleasure and meaning. If by adrenaline you mean being excited and interested in the most literal sense possible, sure, that sounds pretty legitimate. But I think in the end, we all yearn for meaning, all of these desires and urges and feelings are just distractions, don't think you have an issue. Life just isn't fulfilling when you spend so much time living it for others.

This made me consider what an addiction is...

ad·dic·tion/əˈdikSHən/
Noun:
The fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity.

Worthless, utterly worthless

It's not the word you should blame, for it only tries to reflect a concept, and concepts are conscious creations, which means they are as enduring and varied as dust is with the wind. But, it it helps you sleep at night, know that such a terms has only been around for the last 200 years or so. If that. Should tell you something about society and culture and people, by studying the way they craft their language to fit their perspective to make sense of the world.

I'm not blaming the word, I'm blaming the dumbass defining it
