this is why I referred to him as "Paul Blart" 5thgrade;

oh I was thinking of Mall Rats, nvm

Yes they are a joke for politely asking people to not run in a mall. What assholes.

Well probably because it would be a liability for the mall if people got injured there. And so there are certain safety rules/guidelines put in place that are enforced to ensure a less hostile environment. Also so as to not cause a disturbance for the other individuals at the mall trying to enjoy themselves or shop.

It's not just "Oh hey, I don't like you kids running" or "I'm gonna give you crap just because you're kids and I can."

well, yeah, essentially it is

like what if someone goes to the mall and their idea of enjoying themselves happens to differ just slightly from everyone else's??? they're not aloud at the mall? even if they're taking necessary precautions to make sure they aren't going to "run in to" people or however the case might be?? should there be a test before going into the mall for if you can handle yourself?

this makes no sense.

They were running around a mall full of people. The mall police simply told them to stop and wasn't an ass. Instead of showing a bit of responsibility someone starts yelling about how he is running. How does that have anything to do with different ways of enjoying oneself? They are breaking rules and being an ass after being nicely reprimanded.

so you're saying that when you're in a public space you're supposed to abide by this made up "social contract"' that nobody wrote but everyone kind of secretly agrees to for mutual benefit?? basically so no one gets too upset and everyone knows what to expect??

exactly, I think if people want to do something different than the "status quo" then everyone else should sit down and deal with it instead of trying to fucking control everything around them

First of all, you yourself, are too anti-authority. Not everybody with authority is out to get you for everything you do. (Unless of course everything you do is wrong and goes against every kind of authority. But you'd have to be actively going for that kind of thing to achieve those results and thus bringing it upon yourself.)

Second, if you're actions are going to create a disturbance then that's probably something that whoever owns the mall tries to prevent happening. Disturbances can potently hurt sales, or in extreme cases injure people. First and foremost the mall is there for shopping and for the shops and owners to make money. Anything that potentially harms that is bad and is dealt with or planned for and prevented ahead of time.

Most indoor places either have rules against, or frown upon, running indoors or will tell people not to run for safety and liability reasons. So the people running won't hurt other people or themselves. And usually if people continue on ignoring the warnings, they are removed.

uhhh no, I'm saying don't be an asshole. The mall was in the right asking them to not run inside and they were completely kind about it. Yet they continue being an ass, then they have the audacity to act like the mall cop was doing something horribly wrong.

but like snowy said, if I want to run but I'm 100% sure I'm good enough at running that I own't run in to anyone, then why can't I run? what is the point of rules when individuals know about the situation they're in better than a rule ever could? (because rules aren't ALIVE)

if i was in a store it would be a different, because that's like someone's real purchased Space. they have an investment to keep and I respect that, that's a REAL social contract....when money changes hands. but the hallways in a mall? who the fuck is a mall or a cop, NOT THE bosS OF ME. think of it like international waters

but you know anyone who is a mall cop has an ego problem and was probably fucked with when they were a kid and forced to do things they didn't want to do, so they reciprocate
