Problem with my phone or battery?

I charged my phone during my nap today and disconnected it when it indicated that its charge was full when I went to the bathroom after I woke up.  A few hours later I noticed that my phone was indicating that it only had thirty-five per cent of its charge left [which is just ridiculous], so I put it back on the charger but it didn't budge at all.  I turned it off and back on again and suddenly it was saying that it had two per cent charge left, I repeated the process again but removed the battery for a few minutes and it magically said my phone was fully charged again and hasn't done any weird thing since then. 


Weird problem with my phone or a sign that my battery could be dying?

one time my ipod fucked up with that "sad disk drive" icon, so I threw it at a wall, and it actually fixed it.
