This.

There were many badass classes on the list to choose from. I was really excited when I was a freshman jumping into my sophmore year. I signed up for Journalism, French, Guitar...but when I sat down with the counsler, she said that none of those classes are offered.

fuck the south's education system.

My high school didn't offer most of those, only English, Physics, AP Chem, Web Design, and a general photography class (which is probably like your Digital Photography?)

What does "Chem II AP" mean? If it uses AP as in the college credit exams, there's only one Chemistry one.

Hippopo

My "western" school didn't offer many electives.  We only had three art classes to choose from: intro to art, dry media, and wet media.  In my senior year, my art teacher was trying to push for a class called "advanced art."

We had a few shop classes to choose from.  Drafting I (architecture), Drafting II (engineering), Welding, Small Engines... I took them all except for welding.

And then we had Microsoft Word/Excell as another elective.. Which I took as well.

And, of course, band and choir.

...

I guess the only other "optional" courses were pre-calculus, calculus, physics, wildlife bio, organic chemistry, comparative political systems, and AP lit... But I didn't really see them as optional if you actually wanted to go to a good college.

yeah i think the college board really enforces their trademark when it comes to the naming of AP courses.

East TN isn't the shithole the central TN is.

You have to consider that most of the school was the stereotypical "I DON'T NEED NONE OF THIS SCHOOL N SHIT" black crowd so they couldn't offer any "advanced" courses because it'd make them feel bad and it'd be "racist" for excluding them. akudood;

I registered for a programming course my sophomore year of high school. Not long after I registered, they cancelled it and merged it with the "interactive multimedia" class, which was really just powerpoints. I couldn't change my schedule and I was stuck with it.

I was pissed.
