Nice hocuspocus;

A good friend of mine's dad is renting out the apartment in the basement of their house.  I'm deciding whether it's worth going for:

Pros:
-It's right near my work & school so it saves me a 3.2 mile drive
-I can sleep in later for the above reason since I can simply hop in the shower, eat, and go to class or work rather than do all of that and worry about both driving and trying to park.
-Insurance rates in that city are much lower so I'd save money there.
-when parties are at friend's i don't have to worry about how much i drink
-Save on food since I can just go home between classes and on break and make food rather than paying for it on campus

Cons:
- $800 is something I don't think I can really afford without coming close on my budget every month. The amount I save on Food, Gas, and Insurance may help though.
-Still don't know if gas/water/electric/utilities are included or which of them are and which aren't
-If something goes wrong that won't be too good. it's a close friend's dad. also he fixes my car with a discount at his shop.
-I will have to get Comcast since Verizion FIOS is not available :|
$800 for rent? For just yourself?
Is that a typical price around there?

Daddy

It's a small apartment and it's cheaper than most 1 bedrooms are.

Most are like $1000-1300 even if they are in shitty areas

Oh my. I could never imagine. There are many homes available for rent for $275-350 for a decently sized home
and the price for the great one bedrooms or so will not run over $700 for the best you can find, and that estimate is really pushing it. i rarely see any that high

Daddy

Boston area is one of the most expensive in the country.

Hippopo

I couldn't imagine living there.

And I was feeling worried about having to pay $400 a month for my next place. I guess I can't really complain about that now. Little more thankful for my small home.

Daddy

It's not bad except that i hate snow

Also I want to move and can't afford to do so working 35-45 hours per week and making 4-5 dollars above minimum wage per hour.

There are some obvious scams or sketchy things going on (like the three bedroom supposedly for $655.  That is definitely not possible.  The fact that no city is listed is also suspect. or the fact that the two area codes listed are in california or washington)

The cheapest stuff is usually 875 for 1 bedrooms in the not so great areas.

PER WEEK OR MONTH
per month.

i don't think nyc is cheaper than boston unless you go to like the shittiest parts of harlem.

Hippopo

Montana is pretty cheap.  Come live here if you can find a job.  giggle;

hipsters are taking over harlem so it's the new hot neighbourhood in nyc
also, pretty much the entirety of the eastern seaboard from Norfolk upwards is expensive to live in
I love [you]
