Miyamoto steps down (partially)

It's not like he's leaving Nintendo entirely, but he's moving away from his current position which at least means moving away from being head of stuff like Zelda and Mario. He mentions in that interview that he intends to work on smaller projects (which we'll see presented as soon as next year) at a position closer to the actual game development, whatever that means exactly.

If he's actually more involved with the game design rather than just ordering people around from a do-nothing position, then this might be a good move. I mean, when he puts his mind to something he comes up with some pretty great new ideas. I loved Pikmin, I hope he has more crazy shit like that up his sleeves.

well...he's almost sixty. Projects with 5 year time frame are not feasible anymore.


Also, Nintendo has kind of put all of their eggs in one basket. So hopefully this will lead to new IP, which will hopefully reinvigorate Nintendo.
