Great game, but the music isn't very good.
But this theme takes the cake for worst in the game I think

i actually don't hate this, though the pitch is certainly an octave too high and it's easy to imagine how quickly it'd become infuriating when on loop ad infinitum

I feel the same way. It's exactly that; the level is just a bit too long for this song, and it gets irritating fairly quickly.

it's the first 15 seconds of this track that I hate, because it's Dragon Warrior, and after every battle you get into, you hear these same high-pitched notes over and over again.

the first 15 seconds are new to this version, they weren't in the original.

i think it's kinda dull tbh, and i think the bosses are pretty universally bad

but it's not a bad game, just way way overhyped, not nearly as metroid-like as people make it out to be, and ultimately just kinda...dull. i've played other much more interesting indie metroidvanias. it's just axiom verge attempts to look more like metroid than most do. i don't think it really helps the game that much.
