CocoRosie

I'm sure there has been a CocoRosie thread before (I have maybe even made a CocoRosie thread before) but I am curious what other boyagers think of CocoRosie.



Personally, I love CocoRosie. I have gone out of my way to see them 3 times and am making it 4 in February with their L.A show. CocoRosie has been one of my favorites for like four years now and every time they come on it just makes me happy. Is there anything like it?! Bim!

I've heard a few tracks here and there. but I've never given her an honest listen.

I've heard comparisons to Joanna Newsome, which kind of turns me off honestly.

I also really love Joanna Newsom but I wouldn't say that CocoRosie is very much like that at all. CocoRosie is two sisters Bianca and Sierra Casady (and then some other members like a beatboxer who is Tez or sometimes a black friend who I think is named Spleen and some guy with a mustache) and sometimes they use harp, but not in the way that Joanna Newsom does.

CocoRosie is very strange, I think and not anything at all like anything else (that I've heard) One of the sisters is an opera trained singer. You should try giving an honest listen. The video I posted is a really good example of the kind of thing they're doing.

I'm not really sure what to say to this. CocoRosie just puts a feeling in my stomach sometimes. If you listened, maybe you would be interested.

***CocoRosie consider themselves more as performing artists than as musicians. It makes listening to them very fun because of how varied their live material is from the recorded material. Often times the live version are better than the recorded (though the recorded are great)
