I have mixed feelings about this.

On one hand Andy did get rid of the annoying Goombas who advertise, or at least he held them off for 3 days.

On the other hand, it's going to create a lot of problems.

What if the goomba needs to PM a mod?  There are going to be lots of threads going "Why was my thread locked?" instead of PMing a moderator goombas will be forced to make threads to discuss stuff.   

He just made everything more difficult for Goombas.   If they can't contact mods or PM users for help with a game(say that their thread got deleted) they are going to spam more, and get banned for it.

This doesn't surprise me. But, if you ask me, I think it was a smart move for a business. As for a community, though, it will create quite a bit of tension for them.

It's hard for me to compare Nsider to a community, as I see them more like a television station. They have to change things up a bit every now and then to make a certain group happy (in this case, they did it for themselves to have less work), but will always piss off another group when they do it (like the current goombas). But to them, it doesn't matter who they piss off, because they will always have more people coming. Yeah, they're making decisions that make the forum seem crappier, but it wasn't made to be something fun anyway.
