But actually, hugs are a strange animal. A kiss usually means the same thing, and pretty much always means within the same realm of things, whereas a hug can mean anything at all or nothing at all or whatever. Also hugs involve getting close enough to be intimate without actually being intimate and I often find this awkward, especially because it is looked down upon to refuse a hug, which is mean because it forces you into unwanted fake intimacy.

I hope that made some semblance of sense.
