The poll is missing the 12th sign in a 13-sign zodiac, Ophiuchus. Fix it.  akudood;

The signs of the zodiac don't correspond with constellations anymore and haven't for a very long time. Ophiuchus is obsolete and even when it wasn't it didn't have to do with the zodiac.

deal w/ it

Astrology is bullshit because of the negligible gravitational pull, as evidenced by Newton's law of universal gravitation, the stars have on us.

well yeah
That means the zodiac is completely arbitrary and the 13-sign zodiac is just as valid as the 12-sign zodiac.

what does the gravity of stars have to due with astrology

also newton's law of universal gravitation is a nice proof of classical mechanics but doesn't exactly describe the intricacies of astrophysics (otherwise gravity would be a force that is understood fully)

*not saying astrology is relevant

it's more about which is more traditionally adhered to, not which is more scientifically valid

not really because using that sign breaks the zodiac ring into unequal parts

Well, according to astrologers, stars supposedly have an effect on personality, natural events, etc. and how do you explain that if gravity isn't a factor?

'gravity' could be a factor, but even if astrology somehow touched upon actual truths of celestial mechanics, the whole concept wouldn't be invalidated by one counter theory just because it appealed to how we happened to think at the time (eg that everything was purely mechanically relativistic)

If gravity was a factor, then the doctor who birthed me and ripped me out of my mom's vagina mere inches away had much more influence over my personality than the particular star lightyears away that just happened to pull towards me.
