I think using headphones/ear buds/whatevs outside of one's own privacy is extremely silly because it seems like the person is intentionally trying to tune the world out.

This happened to me in the grocery store today. I was walking with heavy items, and the woman in front of me stopped instantly to check her shopping list.

Fortunately, I'm trained in the art of juke and I sort of did a classy spin around her.
